FAIRVIEW TWP. — One person is dead and two others injured after a crash on State Route 437 on Sunday afternoon.
According to Luzerne County Coroner Frank Hacken, a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Route 437 was killed after a single-car crash that happened around 3 p.m. Sunday.
The two other occupants of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to Hacken. The name of the deceased is being withheld until their next of kin can be notified.
Route 437 between the intersection of Crestwood Drive in Wright Township and Kirby Avenue in Fairview Township was closed for much of the late afternoon and early evening while the incident was cleared, according to a release from PennDOT.
Both lanes of the roadway were reopened to all traffic around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.
