DALLAS TOWNSHIP — Police have released the name of a young man killed in a car crash on Kunkle Alderson Road early Monday morning.

Jacob Busch, 19, of Wyoming was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-car accident that occured shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday morning.

Busch was traveling in a car with two other passengers when the vehicle struck a tree in the area of 570 Kunkle Alderson Road. The three had to be extracted from the car by Kunkle Fire and Rescue.

An autopsy performed on Tuesday confirmed that Busch died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries. Police say that he was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.

The two other individuals involved in the wreck were transported to local hospitals. There was no word yet on the names or conditions of these two individuals, and investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

‘Everyone loved him’

Busch was a 2019 graduate of Wyoming Area High School, and a student at Bloomsburg University. He played football for the Warriors, and a pair of his former teammates had nothing but praise and fond memories of Busch.

“He was such a good guy, everyone loved him,” said Dominic DeLuca, a senior at Wyoming Area. “My mom woke me up to tell me the news Monday morning … it didn’t even feel real.”

“He was so charismatic,” added another of Busch’s former teammates, Derek Ambrosino. “Jacob was great at lifting up everyone’s spirits in the locker room.”

Both DeLuca and Ambrosino referenced Busch’s block in the 2018 Pittston Area rivalry game as one of their favorite memories of him. With the Warriors up big late in the fourth quarter, Busch threw a key block to allow teammate Jimmy Miller to score the final touchdown of the game.

Dozens of Busch’s friends have taken to Facebook to share their condolences to Busch’s family, and to share their own memories of him. The Wyoming Area Football Alumni page

“We’re like a big Warrior family around here,” DeLuca said. “Jake’s going to be missed by everyone.”
