WILKES-BARRE — We’ll have to wait a bit longer for the kickoff of the Rockin’ the County traveling concert series, as Friday night’s event was postponed due to inclement weather.
The announcement came Friday afternoon via event organizers.
“The committee is discussing the possibility of rescheduling it for another date in August,” an official release stated. “The rest of the concerts in the series are set to continue as planned.”
The traveling concert series, a replacement for last summer’s popular Rockin’ the River concert series, will see a parade-style performance of bands through several of the county’s largest municipalities.
Friday’s concert was supposed to star Dustin Douglas and the Electric Gentlemen and would go through Wilkes-Barre.
Each event will see bands performing on the back of a flatbed truck parade-style, so residents can enjoy the music from their porches. The truck will make its way through the neighborhoods from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. each Friday.
The lineup:
• Friday, July 10, Wilkes-Barre (postponed)
Dustin Douglas and the Electric Gentlemen
• Friday, July 17, Hazleton

• Friday, July 24, Pittston
