This weekend’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins games have been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols affecting the Penguins, the AHL announced Friday.

The Penguins games originally scheduled for Friday at Syracuse and Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena against Charlotte will be made up at a later date. All previously purchased tickets for Saturday night’s postponed home game will be valid for the to-be-announced makeup date.

The team’s popular annual Teddy Bear Toss, which was scheduled for Saturday, will now be held during the Dec. 11 game against Hershey.

“The Penguins organization will be following enhanced protocols at the direction of team medical staff and the AHL,” a release from the team said.

Hershey is also dealing with COVID-19 issues that necessitated the postponement of Sunday’s game between the Penguins and the Bears, who had their weekend games called off on Wednesday.

The Penguins currently sit in fifth place in the AHL’s Atlantic Division, 12 points behind the first-place Springfield Thunderbirds and one point behind fourth-place Hershey. In 18 games played this season, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has gone 8-8-0-2.
